As it's only a loan signing, that's a fairly satisfactory piece of business. It'll give us a chance to see if he can perform before deciding whether to spend any serious cash. |

thats a good signing.... Bruce wanted him last year, must be Man U contact, and I reckon he will end up as assistant coach in yrs to come, solid ex Man U player.... |

Thats a bit harsh - Sephen Clemence has done nothing wrong, he has been a great squad player and done his best when he has played and put in some good performances Fickle is such as understatement |

Wouldn't be happy if it was permanent but as it's on loan and it gives him a chance to prove himself again after a poor last season, I'm dead chuffed. Hopefully he's got over his problems of last year, poor form and fitness and will be a good player for us. |

bcfcadmin, Thanks for that, the link does now work. Nicky Butt - what a great signing. I know he had a poor season last year, but that was in a very turbulent atmosphere, and one poor seson doesn't mean he's over the hill. I hope the fans give him a few games to settle - I'm sure he could be the anchor the whole team revolves around. Could we know have more Internationals in our 'second team' than we have ever had in our first team before SB arrived. |

On loan this represents a fantastic and very clever piece of business indeed. Butt is better than anyone we currently have and will give us the depth we need in midfield. Taking him on loan though also allows to wait now and see if 'the big 3' teams offload anyone of interest at the last minute such as Geremi. If they do we can swoop in with the cash, if they dont we are still strong enough. Very good signing. :D |

awesome bit of business if you ask me!!! well done blues. just what we need some real quality and a player who will put his foot on the ball and control a game instead of some of our current midifeld options. mentioning no names but has the same surname as michael johnson, who run around like headless chickens and think that that is satisfactory |

 I watched him last season, he was slow, no strength, couldn't tackle, couldn't shoot, couldn't even pass. He's wasted goal opportunties (think about how many times you saw Clemence miss an open goal last season), if another player scored those goals there would of been less draws. He had two in form games, half a game at Spurs, and the Villa game. I'd prefer a world class holding midfielder to Clemence, I'd prefer Nafti to Clemence. I'd prefer Johnson holding to Clemence. We don't need Clemence. Wigan have money, they want a ball winning CM. Clemence helped keep us up, that's what they want. Bruce should sell him, get money, sign another player. |

Whilst I feel we have adequate numbers of defensive midfielders at Blues and we should be looking for a good attacking midfielder, a loan will not do either club any harm. If he can recapture his form with Man U a few seasons ago, then we will have a great player on our hands. If not, then we havent lost much. |

Butt on a two or three year contract? after last season i would have been dubious.. BUT(t) season long loan deal? Great bit of business, if he doesnt perform its not great loss, if he does? fantastic. We really are in a win or dont do to badly at all situation here! |

Well done brucie and the board. I think Butts form last season was due to souness, because it's not like any of them did well |
